Award continues The Entrepreneurs Center’s wave of commercialization success in the Miami Valley
Dayton, March 22, 2018: The Entrepreneurs Center (TEC) announced today that client company Battle Sight Technologies won a $100k Technology Validation and Startup-Fund (TVSF) grant from the Ohio Third Frontier Commission. This announcement comes on the heels of the acceptance of another TEC client company, Curafied, a revolutionary social media app, to a prestigious Silicon Valley startup accelerator.
“The quality and viability of startups coming from the Miami Valley right now is unparalleled to anything we’ve seen in years,” said TEC President Scott Koorndyk. “The work we’ve done to shore up local early-stage ventures is paying dividends and these companies are garnering national recognition and validation. We couldn’t be more proud of all of our region’s dedicated entrepreneurs.”
The TVSF grant awarded to Battle Sight is designed to create greater economic growth in Ohio-based research institutions, including the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL), a global leader in research and development. Battle Sight developed and produces MARC-IR, a revolutionary chemiluminescent writing utensil which allows warfighters and first responders to communicate in low-light and no-light situations. The company plans to use TVSF funds to invest in growing its operations in southwest Ohio.
“This grant will enable Battle Sight to scale quicker and get our technologies into the hands of the warfighter,” said Battle Sight President and Veteran, Nicholas Ripplinger. “Our organization is blown away by the support we’re received as an Ohio-based company. The AFRL, The Entrepreneurs Center, Ohio Third Frontier, not to mention so many entrepreneurs and business people across Dayton community are bolstering our progress at every turn.”
