Since 2021, EC has helped 32 companies secure over $5M in non-dilutive capital through the Technology Validation and Startup Fund (TVSF). While we don’t write proposals for you, EC provides hands-on training to help entrepreneurs navigate the application process and maximize their chances of success. What began as support for Dayton-area companies has grown into a statewide initiative, connecting businesses across Ohio with critical TVSF funding.
Federal agencies with significant R&D budgets are required to fund small businesses through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, and some may also fund small businesses through the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program. STTR bridges the gap between small businesses and the U.S. research institution ecosystem. For more information on SBIR/STTR programs: Learn More
Ohio firms regularly access these programs: Ohio is the 7th most winningest State for SBIR/STTR. And within Ohio, Dayton is especially great at these programs: approximately 50% of all SBIR/STTR awards made to Ohio firms go to companies located in the Dayton MSA.
The Small Business Innovation Research Technology Acceleration Project (SBIR-TAP) is a commercialization training program developed and launched by the EC, now in partnership with the New York State Technology Enterprise Corporation (NYSTEC). SBIR-TAP helps companies with an Air Force SBIR Phase I pursue further commercialization of their technology through both SBIR and private capital.
Since its inception, this program has supported more than 320 small businesses across the US and resulted in more than $3B in capital to further develop and commercialize technologies.
