The Entrepreneurs Center Hires ESP Director

Posted by Katie Hill on January 7, 2019

“We are thrilled to have someone as sophisticated and talented as Chris Wallace join our team,” said Scott Koorndyk, president of TEC. “We have much to accomplish in a short period of time, and with Chris at the helm, we feel confident we will deliver high caliber services to entrepreneurs enabling job creation and economic growth for the region.”

The ESP program offers development services to startup technology companies to help them achieve entrepreneurial success. Wallace’s experience includes executive roles at NCR and Teradata as well as founding a startup company. She has also led the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and launched the Entrepreneur Club at Wright State University. She is currently leading an Innovation Corps (I-Corps) team funded by the National Science Foundation, which includes mentoring of founders and students.

“Chris has demonstrated herself to be a true leader in entrepreneur and business development,” said Bruce Langos, an Ohio Third Frontier Commissioner and a former Teradata executive who has worked closely with Wallace. “The addition of Chris to the TEC team will continue to improve the regional entrepreneurial efforts underway in the Dayton Region.”

As the ESP director, Wallace will identify and recruit entrepreneurs and startup organizations, identifying and providing the services to help them achieve commercial success. She will oversee the Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs) and other ESP staff, while managing both the State funds and the funding match from community partners.

ESP was created by the Ohio Development Services Agency as a program offering of the Ohio Third Frontier. The goal of the program is to increase technology-based entrepreneurship and commercialization outcomes in the State of Ohio, ultimately creating jobs and attracting investment to the state. Each ESP represents a coordinated network of services that are accessible to technology-based entrepreneurs. The ESP approach integrates deal flow, entrepreneurial support, and capital to support and advance technology-based entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurs who are located in the Dayton Region (Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, or Shelby County) interested in being considered for the ESP services can contact Chris Wallace at [email protected] or Jordan Roe, the ESP analyst at [email protected].
