Turn Up Your Efficiency – Give Each Day a Theme!

As we head into another week of the Stay-at-Home order, you may be feeling the days of the week have lost some of their meaning. Working from home, distant from colleagues, the days may blur and you may find it difficult to know where to focus your attention and energy.  To create new purpose in your day and turn up your efficiency, give each day a theme!

For example:

Monday – Marketing

Tuesday – Hot Tips and Networking

Wednesday – Midweek Creative Work

Thursday – Back to Basics – Administrative Tasks

Friday – Wind Down with Social Media

Did you know different activities involve different parts of the brain?  Multi-tasking has been proven to be ineffective. Constantly switching back-and-forth is time-consuming and drains your mental energy because you’re fundamentally shifting gears. A great way to combat this is by assigning each day a theme. Mondays could be for marketing, Tuesdays would be reserved for networking and meetings — Wednesdays for creative work. Of course, allow for flexibility. You may not have any meetings on Wednesday mornings, but your afternoon is packed. You could then spend that time prepping or taking care of some administrative work.

You may not squeeze these activities into an entire day. But, you can make it a point to spend a chunk of the day on-theme. You’ll be amazed by the power of themes that allow you to set a focus for your day. Good luck, be safe, be productive!

Sincerely,
Gail Francis Johnson
